10 Steps To Taking Pro Property HDR’s!

  • Terminology

The following section will define some of the key terminology used throughout the course. Please revisit this section if you are unsure about any of the terms used in any of the sections.

  • STEP 01: Get To Know Your Camera

In this course, we will be shooting in full manual mode so having an understanding of how your camera works will be essential. This section explains some of the key camera settings we will cover.

  • STEP 02: Get The Right Equipment

Using a tripod will allow you to take the same shot at different exposures without changing the composition of the picture, which will be essential for the later stages of the course.

  • STEP 03: Correct Camera Settings For The Shoot

So, we're feeling comfortable with our camera and want to move onto the next step. In this step, we will drill down into the exact camera settings we need to get the best results.

  • STEP 04: Staging The Property

When arriving at a property, it is important to ensure that everything is as it should be in the final shot. Neatening pillows, turning lights on or off, based on how you would like the final result to look.

  • STEP 05: Using Natural Lighting

As mentioned in the previous section, we will utilise the natural light coming into and across the home for our images. Which, will give us an honest representation of how the light flows into the rooms.

  • STEP 06: Framing & Composition

Framing and composition are arguably the most essential part of any art or design, and this applies to oil paintings and interior design as much as it does photography.

  • STEP 07: Setting Up The Shot

Now that we have an idea of how to create a nice composition, its time to bring our tripod and levelling cube into play.

  • STEP 08: Shooting In Brackets

Most cameras can’t see in as much range as the human eye. The range of light a camera can receive, from the darkest black to the whitest white, is referred to as ‘Dynamic Range.’

  • STEP 09: Taking The Shots

Now that we know what we're aiming for let's go ahead and capture our first set of brackets.

  • STEP 10: Processing & Image Delivery

So we have taken a set of photographs and want to see the final result. To deliver the images to our editing team, you can use one of the following delivery methods.

  • Final Examination
